Nemotia is the fear that you are utterly powerless to change the world around you, looking on helplessly at so many intractable problems out there - daily headlines of an unstoppable war, a slick of air pollution blanketing the skyline - which makes the act of trying to live your own life feel grotesque and self - indulgent (nee: Dictionary of Obscure sorrows).
The painting depicts feeling of Nemotia rooted in collective trauma of growing up in Poland in the times f transformation, where from early childhood we learn about atrocities of world war II, fascism and holocaust.
With far right ideologies on the rise as well as present wars, genocide racism and treatment of refugees, the feeling of Nemotia became an overwhelming common guest in artist's everyday existence.
