It is a portrait of decay, loss and waste. Reflecting on the natural world as we know it slowly disappear, Ola Intu uses abstract forms, plants, fruits and insects to allow herself to mourn and challenge fear of the existential disaster on the horizon. Globally a massive amount of fruits and vegetables go to waste , with estimates suggesting around 43% - 45% of them being wasted annually.
The painting tells a story of a land that was made beautiful and abundant with various living forms, but is consistently being destroyed and exploited due to human mismanagement. . It is an ode to the soil, the process of rotting and everything that happens underground.
